2 Nephi

Who wrote it? Nephi and He Also Quotes Isaiah and Lehi and his Brother Jacob

Summary: This book picks up kind of where the last one left off, and in the first four chapters Nephi records Lehi's last words to his family.  Then the rest of the book goes on, and we can see what happens to the family.  He tells us about the importance and necessity of the Great Fall of Adam and the Importance and Necessity of Opposites, which is probaby my favorite in the whole book.  While I was reading on other blogs about 2 Nephi I read that " Chapter 28 is what my Book of Mormon teacher called the Devil’s Playbook. It tells of many of his tricks and things that he will do to try to get us to turn away from our Father, and think that we can never turn back." and I really liked that way of wording it.  Then in the rest of 2 Nephi we are proved that we need the book of mormon AND the bible, and that God loves all of his nations equally so that is proof that he wouldn't have provided his word for them in only one place.  Next, he tells about the gathering of the Saints, and Destruction and the conversion processes that will happen amongst the faithful.  There are many chapters in 2 Nephi that are so plain and full of important information that they are some of my favorite, and then there is the section including Isaiah, which even though equally important, is not nearly as plain or easy to understand.  The last chapters of 2 Nephi (Chapters 31-33) are very plain, easy to understand and have so many important little points that I find them hard to summarize.  Nephi talks about Christ's example and the importance of us following him in every way, especially in the way of humbling ourselves to baptism and recieving the Holy Ghost.  Then he moves on and tells us about how we can attain eternal life and become like our Father in Heaven  Then he discusses more the Holy Ghost, and what a blessing that is and why we have him in our lives.  Then he bears his testimony and tells how much he hopes we all believe on the words he has written.  It was interesting at the end of the chapter I realized that Nephi was saying Goodbye, and I actually felt sad hah.  That has never happened to me before reading the scriptures, but I was getting used to his way of talking and kind of oddly feeling like I was getting to know him. However, he did leave with a beautiful message of obedience as he told us that "The Lord commanded me, and I must obey," even setting a good example for us in his last words.
